Fashion Filtered: Things you can actually afford in the September issues.

1.
Chain Strap Handbags From Banana Repulic $95
These bags have been in a ton of mags- Bazaar, Marie Claire, InStyle and Elle- and for good reason. They are sophisticated, understated and seem very pricey. Banana Republic handbags are incredibly well made and will last you a while. You could also tuck the chain in to the purse and carry this little diddy as a clutch.

2.
New Gap Jeans Collection $59
Editors are freaking over these, and for good reason. I went to the Gap myself and checked these out, they are well crafted, incredibly comfy, and there is an amazing selection both online and in-store. Well done Mr. Robinson, well done. This collection got a feature in Elle and coverage in three other mags.

3. Faux-Fur Vests
A fur vest is not for everyone, but you should definitely look into it. When they are made with the right materials and worn properly they can make you look incredibly put together. Two great choices are from H&M ($67 as seen in Bazaar) and
BB Dakota ($60).

4.
Sam Edelman Snakeskin Flat $99
Snakeskin flats are incredibly versatile. They add interest to an otherwise basic outfit (something that happens to me a lot since I basically shop for only solid colors.) You will see snakeskin flats in almost every magazine this month, but I saw these in Bazaar.

5.
Ann Taylor necklaces $85
These necklaces have that rock-and-roll feel without looking to over-the-top. They could also be layered with a a longer sleek chain. InStyle and Bazaar both featured necklaces from the retailer, who is definitely getting an upgrade.

6.
Colin Stuart Booties, Victoria's Secret Catalog $79
A fab mix of masculine and feminine, classic and new. I can see these working very well with a tweed skirt and brown tights as well as with some skinny jeans and a comfy boyfriend sweater. I normally have an aversion to the VS website, but InStyle and Elle convinced me other wise.

7.
Lauren by Ralph Lauren Jersey Dress $124
Wear a turtleneck under it, a cardigan or blazer over it, or a big belt with it. This dress can go all year round and can be worn a ton of different ways. The cut is super flattering and the color is rich. Perf. InStyle proclaimed it a dress for every shape, and i agree.

8.
DKNY Jeans Sweaterdress $69
This dress has lush details near the collar that makes a necklace uncessary. Pair it with some black tights and flats for day, rock some bold colored tights and booties for night. Grey is my absolutely favorite neutral. As Seen in Glamour.

9.
Ann Taylor Leopard Print Dress $160
Once again, turtleneck under, blazer over, or a big belt. This dress is even more versatile because you can add colors to it's neutral palette. Love love love, as did Marie Claire, Bazaar and Glamour.

10. Alex and Ani State Bangles $68
These bangles are so so chic and carry a special meaning. These would be a great gift for anyone with state pride. I am thinking of getting three (one for each state I have lived in) as a present to myself . . . Thanks Marie Claire! Call 1-800-725-7822 to order.

If you are trying to decide which September issue to buy- I would definitely recommend Bazaar. Lot's of great finds, a bunch of great articles and you get to read on as Karl Lagerfeld channels Coco Chanel. What is better than that? Not much.
