A New York Memento

My dear friend Renee has been in the Big Apple for the last two years- eating amazing food (read about it here), going to great concerts and generally living it up in her own awesome way. Now Renee is taking her awesomeness to Chicago to start the next chapter, but she asked me for some ideas on a fabulous splurge that she could use as a memento of her time in NYC. She wanted something timeless she could pass on to her daughter one day, but also something she could use now.

I combed the websites of the great NY retailers- Bendels, Barneys, Bloomies, Tiffany's and Saks looking for something that said New York without screaming it. I found a Taxicab bracelet, thought about a great cashmere scarf from Saks' own line, and ultimately came upon our winner- courtesy of Bloomingdale's.

Chic, timeless, and definitely New York. This Kate Spade bag has a bit of flash in the gold chain and patent finish, but the shape and construction will make it a classic for Renee and maybe one day her 20-something daughter in NYC. -xo Sam
