My Summer Essentials

Yesterday I came downstairs after about 15 minutes of dealing with laundry to find my Havianas flip flops completely destroyed thanks to my 6 month old puppy, Ace. Yes, he is adorable, but this is the second time he has eaten a pair of my flip flops, making him temporarily less cute in my eyes.

As soon as I was finished picking up the torn pieces of rubber, I immediately got on Zappos.com and ordered another pair of navy Havianas. There was no hesitation. I had to replace them. They are that important to me in the summer.

This got me thinking, what else would I immediately replace if Ace got a hold of it, or if it was ruined in the laundry, or it was simply lost? What do I absolutely have to have in the summer? Answers after the jump!

1) Havianas Flip Flops in Navy: I wear these shoes more than I originally thought I would. I mean, they are rubber flip flops. But I find myself always reaching for them when I am running errands in casual clothes. I pair them with a simple cotton dress or white jeans and a tank top. They are insanely comfortable, really versatile and a summer classic.

2) Denim Pencil Skirt: In the summer I rarely wear pants, I think that skirts are more comfortable and cooler (temperature wise). Therefore instead of reaching for jeans I am constantly putting on my denim pencil skirt. It is just as versatile as jeans and offers a little femininity.

3) White Bootcut Jeans: I have had the same pair of white jeans for 5 years now and I would be devastated if I lost them. They are the epitome of summer to me. Easy, comfortable and chic.

4) J. Crew Metallic Leather Flip Flops: This is the other pair of shoes that Ace ate and I immediately replaced them. These are so great because they are a little fancier than your typical flip flop and offer a little pizzaz with out being uncomfortable. My favorite use for them: weddings. They are so compact that I put them in my clutch and change into them whenever my feet just can't take heels anymore. That way I can dance and mingle without my feet bleeding or being barefoot. Trust me, you will love them.

5) Gap Tank Tops: The perfect basic. They come in a huge variety of colors and you can actually wear a normal bra with them. Dress them up or down.

The links are some suggestions of great pieces if you want to stock up on my summer essentials. If you have something that you can't live without in the summer add it to the list by adding a comment!
