What I Wore.

After I got dressed I was pleased with how everything came together and headed downstairs to do my last minute duties. And that is where I stopped being pleased with my choices. The outfit, while cute was totally impractical for hosting a party. Dealing with the oven, platters, a punch bowl and the food proved to be a little difficult in 5 inch heels. The dress, which I love, was a little constricting when I was reaching up into cabinets. And lastly, the bracelet was a little large and got in the way when I was moving around the kitchen.
Had I been just a guest at the party this outfit would have been perfect. It was comfortable when I was standing around chatting, but not when I needed to run upstairs to grab something or take out the trash.

What I Should Have Worn.
This outfit is just as cute as the one I chose, but offers more mobility. The shift dress is a simple shape that leaves the arms free to move. It also doesn't have a bow with ends that will end up in guacamole (yes, that happened). The zebra print keeps the dress interesting without having extra elements. These nude sandals are a little more simple and to keep the focus on the dress, but most importantly they have a lower heel. And lastly, the Alexis Bittar bangle is a little more delicate and wouldn't have gotten in the way.
Here are the three lessons I learned about choosing an outfit when you are a hostess:
1) Resist the urge to wear MAJOR shoes. Your feet will thank you.
2) A Printed dress lets you show some interest without piling on accessories.
3) Keep the silhouette comfortable. You should bee free to run around like a crazy person.

Samantha, Your "what to wear" when being the hostess was brilliant! Loved both outfits and it was very easy to see which one worked for each occasion. Amazing!
